Mulch well to get that precious water deep to help produce lots of juicy fruit.
March is the time to give the lawn a good feed to prepare it for the drier winter months.
Consider using products like: Supergrass, Eco 88, Organic Extra, Green Up Lawn Food.
Apply approximately 4 - 6 weekly and water in well.
Products like Organic Extra & Green Up Lawn food are especially good as they are gentle with new root growth.
With all the rain, grass will have grown significantly, so keep cutting it at regular intervals.
Even though at present it is growing at a rate of knots; do start to raise the mower height a little in preparation for the slower growing months that will be on us before we realise!
Now is actually a great time to establish a new lawn; either by seed OR for an instant effect use turf.
Prior to planting use a fertiliser such as Turf Master to prepare the soil.
Mid summer is a good time to give your roses a top up feed to help all those beautiful flowers.
Do ensure that the soil is moist before applying a good rose food like: “Aussie Gardens Rose Food.”
March is an excellent time to feed!
Wisteria , Jasmine, Mock Orange, Roses (dead head after flowering),Rosemary, Box Hedge (Buxus).
Grevilleas; prune lightly.
Remember when you feed natives to use a native plant fertiliser mix.
These are low Phosphorus (less than 4%) A good slow release fertiliser to use would be “Garden Gold”
Broccoli, Beetroot, Spring Onions: Excellent for salads & stir fries.
Corn (plant in tight blocks rather than rows. Aids pollination. Requires ample water as cobs develop. Harvest when silks turn dark brown.)
Asian Mix Seedlings: like Pak Choi - great for salads or stir fries.
Tomatoes: At this time of year seedlings will produce a better result.
Consider using Cherry or Grosse Lisse as these are more suitable for our humid environment.
For best results treat with a Tomato Dust and follow the instructions for application.
