SHAPESCAPER Steel Planters and Garden Edging is a modular steel landscaping system that offers a large range of product choices.
SHAPESCAPER® steel garden edging, Manufactured in Australia, is made using Redcor® weathering steel or galvanized steel from BlueScope® steel
Redcor steel is the Australian equivalent in specification to the ever-popular “corten” weathering steel.*
Stakes
- Edging should be a minimum of 30mm below ground level
- Use 3 - 4 stakes per 2400mm length.
- This can mean 7 - 8 screws total depending on the application / number of stakes used per length
- 4 screws per length
- 1 screw per stake up to and incl 185mm profile

- Straight or Curved?
- A choice of holes along each length allows for either
- the recommended 3 stakes per length or
- 4 stakes per length for specific applications, such as
- long straight runs of edging in light soils
- or heavy-traffic areas

Lengths
- Lengths are supplied with connector plates, fasteners (and rivets where required from 230mm profile)
- Pre-drilled holes make assembly and alignment easy.
- Screws are self-tapping and can be fitted using an impact driver and 5/16 AF (8mm) Hex Socket.
- The lower profiles can be shaped on-site into angled bends or flowing curves.
- Edging thicknesses available are
- 1.6mm, 2.0mm and 2.5mm
- Available in eight profile heights:
- 75mm, 100mm,
- 150mm, 185mm,
- 230mm, 290mm,
- 390mm and 590mm.
- All lengths are 2400mm long

*What is special about corten or corten equivalent steel?
- Corten Steel (sometimes known as weathered steel)
- is a group of steel alloys often used in outdoor construction.
- was designed to eliminate the need for painting
- left outside, exposed to the elements, they develop a rusted appearance in just a few months,
- this is a natural process and can take two to three years to stabilise.
- Are there disadvantages to corten steel?
- It is not Indestructible.
- Weathering steel certainly protects against corrosion, but it isn't indestructible.
- Corten Steel planters that don't have adequate draining capabilities, may not last as long as one that does.
- It is not Indestructible.
